Steve is the Founding Partner of Roots Recruiting, which is an executive search firm focused on legal and compliance roles within the asset management industry.

Prior to founding Roots, Steve spent 13 years helping to build, manage and eventually sell a successful recruiting firm focused on non investment related hires within the investment management industry. In addition to running firm wide operations, he was directly involved in over 400 legal and compliance placements, including a number of high profile retained Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel roles. His clients included long/short, event-driven, global macro, quant, distressed and multi strategy hedge funds. He also worked with private equity funds with strategies that included buyout, venture, growth equity, distressed debt, secondary and infrastructure. Clients ranged from $100m in AUM to $300b.
